IURRO
IURRO (Jiri Stavovcik) was born in Banska Bystrica, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia). He spent his childhood in Havana, Cuba and Olomouc, Czechoslovakia (now Czechia). He was educated in Czechoslovakia where he studied drawing and painting under artist and educator Petr Exler. Subsequently he was educated in the United States where he studied figurative drawing at the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia and the Spring Studio in New York City under guidenance of artists Fred Hatt and Minerva Durham. His art was featured at various group shows and solo exhibitions in New York City, Washington D.C., Nagano and Okayama (Japan), Prague (Czechia), Moscow (Russian Federation), and in France. He splits his time working in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Czech countryside.
